why do we add turmeric while cooking indian food???

because mom (or cook book) says so...

of course some really analytical folks will spend a huge amount of taxpayer or consumer money to tell us that it includes the highly beneficial blah blah...

i am amazed how diets and cuisines have evolved around the globe... and i like to understand people and cultures through the food they cook and eat...

i also like to trace the names of ingredients, the preparations, and the occasions... most of all i like to cook for my friends and family...

i claim to cook a globally inspired cuisine...

but i have to confess it is most inspired by the ingredients i find in the kitchen or in the store around the corner...
